According to local news agency Anadolu on February 1 (local time), a long-distance passenger bus in T?rkiye plunged off a cliff, resulting in over 30 casualties.
Authorities stated that at approximately 10:20 a.m. that day, a bus traveling on a road near Dosemealti, close to the southern Turkish resort city of Antalya, struck the left guardrail of its lane, rolled down a slope, and overturned.
Hulusi Sahin, Governor of Antalya, announced that eight passengers on the bus were killed in the accident, and 26 injured individuals were transported to nearby hospitals.
The bus had departed from Tekirdag in northwestern T?rkiye, about 700 kilometers from the accident site, the previous evening and was en route to downtown Antalya.
Governor Sahin explained that the accident appears to have occurred because the bus was speeding on a wet road surface with foggy conditions in the area.
Recently, T?rkiye has experienced frequent traffic accidents with casualties due to heavy rain and snow. On January 30, a chain collision involving 10 vehicles occurred on a highway in southeastern Gaziantep due to thick fog, resulting in two deaths and 11 injuries.
