Pro-Han Faction: "PPP's Expulsion of Han Donghoon Is a Political Purge for Supporting Yoon's Impeachment"

Kim Jonghyuk: "People Power Party Returns to 'Yoon Again Party' with Han's Expulsion"
Supreme Council Approves Han's Expulsion on January 29

After the leadership of the People Power Party decided to expel former representative Han Donghoon, pro-Han figures have publicly raised objections. By characterizing this decision as a "political purge in response to supporting Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment," internal party conflict is intensifying.

Kim Jonghyuk, former Supreme Council member and a prominent pro-Han figure, stated on his social media account shortly after the expulsion decision on January 29, "At 9:50 a.m. on January 29, 2026, the People Power Party's return to the 'Yoon Again Party' has been completed."

He also appeared on CBS Radio's "Park Jaehong's Panpan Seungbu" the previous day, saying, "The opponent we are fighting is not Representative Jang Donghyuk, but rather the Yoon Again faction," and added, "I believe we are fighting the pro-Yoon Again faction behind Representative Jang, as well as the hardline coalition of Jeon Gwanghoon, Cho Wonjin, and Hwang Kyoan, who are trying to take control of the People Power Party."

Woo Jaejun, Supreme Council member who attended the Supreme Council meeting that decided on the expulsion, said while leaving the meeting room, "If you exclude the parts fabricated by the Party Affairs Audit Committee, there is actually very little grounds for disciplinary action," and added, "Nevertheless, imposing the highest level of disciplinary action, which is expulsion, can only be seen as retaliation for supporting the impeachment." He continued, "If we expel someone now for supporting impeachment, the public will inevitably question whether we are apologizing for the martial law. I do not think this is at all helpful for our party. Therefore, I believe this expulsion decision is wrong," he criticized.

On this day, Assemblyman Woo expressed his opposition to the expulsion of former representative Han and left the meeting midway. It is reported that out of the nine Supreme Council members who attended the meeting, seven supported the expulsion. Former representative Han is scheduled to express his position at a press conference later in the afternoon.
