"Dubai Jjondeuk Cookie" Sold Everywhere, Now Under Surprise Inspection by Food and Drug Safety Ministry

More Than 3,600 Popular Dessert and Ice Cream Shops Nationwide to Be Inspected

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on January 27 that it will conduct intensive inspections from February 2 to 6 at over 3,600 establishments, including delivery restaurants that prepare and sell desserts such as 'Dubai Jjondeuk Cookie'.

This inspection will target restaurants that specialize in preparing and delivering popular desserts such as 'Dubai Jjondeuk Cookie' and chocolate cake, as well as unmanned ice cream specialty stores.

For delivery restaurants, the main focus will be on the sanitary handling of food and kitchens, compliance with facility standards such as the installation of insect screens and waste covers, and whether health examinations have been conducted. In particular, considering that the ingredients for Dubai Jjondeuk Cookie are mainly imported, there will be a concentrated inspection on the storage and use of unreported imported foods or foods past their consumption date.

Approximately 100 prepared food items, including Dubai Jjondeuk Cookie, will be randomly collected and tested for food poisoning bacteria and other contaminants.

For unmanned ice cream stores, the inspection will focus on frequently reported issues such as the storage of products past their consumption date and spoilage due to improper storage.

A representative from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety stated, "We will take strict actions, including administrative measures, against any businesses found in violation," adding, "We will continue to strengthen safety management for delivery foods and unmanned food retail stores that are widely used by the public."
