Awakening Youth Wealth... Busan City to Hold "Gathering Resources Wisely" Class

Three-Part Lecture Series Focused on Youth Economic Independence

The Busan city government is launching the “Yeongkkeul” project to help local youth achieve economic independence. Here, “Yeongkkeul” does not refer to the slang term meaning “scraping together every last penny to invest,” but rather to “gathering resources wisely”-hence, the “Yeongkkeul” classroom.

On January 26, the city announced that it will hold a series of three financial lectures titled “Busan Youth: Yeongkkeul (Gathering Resources Wisely) Class, Not Debt Investment,” starting from February 12.

This lecture series is part of the “Busan Youth JOB Growth Project” and will be jointly operated by the city and nine regional university job-plus centers. The city planned these lectures to discourage reckless borrowing for investment and to promote a culture of sound asset management based on data and knowledge.

The special lectures will be held at City Hall at 2 p.m. from February through March. Renowned speakers will cover topics of high interest to young people, such as stocks, real estate, and virtual assets. A total of approximately 1,200 young participants are expected to attend.

The first lecture will take place on February 12, with economic YouTuber Park Dongho introducing salary management for entry-level employees, ETF basics, and stock investment strategies. The second lecture, scheduled for March 4, will feature Kim Kyungpil, CEO of Money Training Lab, who will discuss the basics of housing subscriptions, building seed money, and preventing rental fraud. The final lecture will be held on March 25, with virtual asset expert Goran explaining global market trends and blockchain technology.

The city will operate this class not just as a simple financial management lecture, but as a program that also includes financial fraud prevention and policy guidance. Education on preventing rental fraud will be included, and before each lecture, information on youth policies related to employment and asset formation will be provided.

For those unable to attend in person, the main content of the lectures will be produced as videos and released online for a certain period after the lectures conclude.

Mayor Park Hyungjoon stated, “We will continue to support young people so that they can settle down in Busan through stable asset management.”
