Huawei of China will unveil solutions for automating and intelligentizing power grids, which are key infrastructure in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), at MWC 2026, the world's largest mobile exhibition to be held in March. The company announced plans to showcase the latest AI applications in the field of power digitalization, including innovative solutions for intelligent power distribution, substations, and power plant inspections.

Recently, the introduction of renewable energy due to climate change, as well as the increasing use of AI and electric vehicles, have further burdened power grids. Last year alone, more than 10 large-scale blackout incidents occurred worldwide, affecting over 1.2 billion people either directly or indirectly, highlighting the instability of power grids.

In response, Huawei is developing new solutions that combine automation, digital technology, and AI with power grids. In particular, the company announced that it will unveil its "Intelligent Distribution Solution (IDS)" at MWC 2026 in Barcelona, Spain this year.

IDS is equipped with features such as real-time monitoring and intelligent control to ensure transparency in distribution networks, outage detection, and stabilization of voltage quality in low-voltage sections. With AI's real-time responsiveness, timely maintenance can be performed to proactively prevent accidents.

Jason Lee, President of Global Marketing and Solutions, Power Digitalization Division at Huawei, said in November last year, "If we deeply integrate digital technology into the power sector and redesign production and operation systems using communication technology and AI, power grids will be able to achieve both the highest levels of stability and flexibility."
