Gangbuk District Invites Applications for "Villa Management Office" Expansion to All Neighborhoods

Beon 2-dong, Ui-dong, and Insu-dong Selected
Applications Accepted Until February 23

Seoul's Gangbuk District (District Mayor Lee Soonhee) will be accepting applications for the "2026 Expansion Area Contest" from January 23 to February 23, as part of its plan to expand the "Villa Management Office" initiative-which improves the residential environment of aging multi-family and row houses-to all neighborhoods in the district.

The Villa Management Office project assigns villa management managers to areas densely populated with aging villas, assisting with cleaning, safety patrols, facility maintenance, and addressing everyday inconveniences to improve the living environment of small-scale multi-family housing. Since its pilot launch in Beon 1-dong in 2023, the program has gradually expanded to Mia-dong, Songjung-dong, Suyu-dong, and Songcheon-dong.

The effectiveness of this project has been validated through resident satisfaction surveys and external awards. Last year’s satisfaction survey showed that 92.4% of residents were satisfied with the program, and 96% responded that expansion to other areas was necessary. Additionally, the project received the "Grand Prize for Crime Prevention in Korea" and the "Grand Prize for Local Government Policy" last year, further recognizing its effectiveness.

This contest will select three additional areas-Beon 2-dong, Ui-dong, and Insu-dong-marking the final stage of the Villa Management Office expansion. Once this expansion is complete, a management system for small-scale multi-family housing will be established throughout Gangbuk District, except for Samgaksan-dong and Beon 3-dong, which are densely populated with apartment complexes.

In the newly selected areas, residents will receive not only the existing management services but also community-focused services such as the installation of CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) safety facilities and the operation of mobile CCTV cameras to monitor illegal dumping.

Applications for the contest will be accepted from January 23 to February 23 at 6:00 p.m. Applicants should submit the application form, resident consent forms, and other required documents in person to the Housing Division at Gangbuk District Office, or by mail or email (hjhj6501@gangbuk.go.kr).

The district plans to announce the final results in March after conducting on-site inspections and a review by the project area selection committee. For more details, please refer to the Gangbuk District Office website or contact the Housing Division (02-901-6823, 6836).

A district official stated, "The Villa Management Office is Gangbuk District’s pioneering model in which the public sector takes responsibility for managing small-scale multi-family housing," adding, "We will continue to do our best in operating and managing the project so that residents can enjoy a safer and more pleasant living environment."
