Gyeonggi Arts Center announced that its new chairman, Oh Seyoung (58), took office on January 22.
Chairman Oh received his letter of appointment from Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon in the morning, held his inauguration ceremony at the Gyeonggi Arts Center Convention Hall, and officially began his duties. Chairman Oh's term will last for two years, until January 21, 2028, and the position is non-executive.
The Gyeonggi Arts Center Executive Recommendation Committee explained its nomination by stating, "He is well-versed in both legislative and administrative experience, has a deep understanding of public organizations, and is well-suited for the role of overseeing the Gyeonggi Arts Center board of directors."
In his inaugural address, Chairman Oh stated, "Gyeonggi Arts Center must now go beyond being a simple performance venue and take a step forward as an open cultural platform connected to the lives of all residents. We will establish a mid- to long-term vision that can respond to the rapidly changing cultural environment and create an 'inclusive cultural space' open to all residents."
He went on to emphasize responsible management based on 'fair and transparent decision-making,' and presented five key directions: strengthening resident-centered cultural accessibility, enhancing collaboration with the local arts ecosystem, reinforcing transparency and accountability as a public institution, driving digital-based operational innovation, and expanding support for the culturally marginalized.
Chairman Oh earned a master's degree in public administration from Dankook University Graduate School of Public Administration and built practical experience in the corporate sector by working in ICT-based digital innovation and marketing. He later gained administrative experience as chairman of the Urban Environment Committee during the first half of the 9th Gyeonggi Provincial Council, among other roles.
