Netflix Confirms Season 2 Release for April 16
Starring Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan
A Psychological Thriller Set in an Elite Country Club
The Netflix series "Angry People," which made a global splash by sweeping eight awards at the Emmy Awards in the United States, is returning after three years. Song Kangho and Youn Yuhjung, two of Korea’s most renowned actors, will join the cast as a married couple, meeting viewers worldwide.
On January 21 (local time), Netflix officially announced through its fan event site Tudum that "Angry People" Season 2 will be released globally on April 16. Director Lee Sungjin, who led the success of Season 1, returns once again as creator and showrunner, taking charge of both planning and directing.
While the previous season dealt with immediate rage sparked by a minor quarrel on the road, this new season shifts the stage to a "country club," a social space for the upper class, to explore more secretive and complex conflicts. Season 2 consists of eight 30-minute episodes and follows a young couple who, after witnessing a shocking fight between their bosses and their spouses, become entangled in the unraveling marriages and raw human relationships around them.
Director Lee Sungjin stated, "Unlike the explosive anger of Season 1, I wanted to explore a more passive form of aggression," adding, "I focused on the internal repression and psychological mechanisms that inevitably arise within workplace or social hierarchies."
The cast lineup is impressive. Hollywood actors Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan take the lead roles, while Song Kangho and Youn Yuhjung appear as a married couple. Youn Yuhjung plays Chairman Park, the billionaire owner of the country club, while Song Kangho plays her second husband, Dr. Kim. This marks the first time that these two actors-winners of the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival, respectively-are performing together in a global OTT production.
