Gangbuk District in Seoul (Mayor Lee Sunhee) is touring 102 senior centers within the district to hear directly from the elderly as the new year begins. This initiative aims to gather suggestions from seniors in their daily lives and incorporate on-site feedback into policies for elderly leisure and welfare. Mayor Lee is personally visiting the senior centers to converse with the elderly and hear their opinions on the overall operation of the centers and welfare projects for seniors.
During her visit to senior centers in the Mia-dong area on January 21, Mayor Lee extended New Year’s greetings to the elderly and listened attentively to their voices on site. The district plans to continue visiting each neighborhood’s senior center according to the schedule.
At these visits, the district is gathering a wide range of suggestions not only on welfare projects for the elderly but also on overall district administration. The district will share the collected feedback with relevant departments and actively reflect feasible suggestions in policy improvements.
A district official stated, “The answer to senior welfare lies in the field,” and added, “We will use the voices we hear directly on site as the starting point for our policies, creating tangible changes that seniors can truly feel.”
