Gimpo City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Byungsoo) announced on January 20 that a full traffic control will be implemented on the Gimpo Hangang-ro section between Geolpo IC and Singok IC from midnight on January 24 to 6 a.m. on January 25, during the late-night hours of the weekend. In addition, a section of Geumpo-ro (around 20-9, Punggok-ri, Gochon-eup) will also be closed during the same period.

This traffic control is being carried out as part of the construction of Section 3 of the access road to the Hangang Cinepolis General Industrial Complex, specifically to ensure the safe installation of IPC girders in the Punggok IC section. The city has selected the late-night hours of Saturday and early Sunday morning, when traffic volume is at its lowest during the weekend, as the control period to minimize inconvenience for residents.

The controlled section of Gimpo Hangang-ro is from Geolpo IC, which connects from Geolpo-dong to Gimpo Hangang-ro, to Singok IC, with a full closure in both directions. The control points are Geolpo IC (Hongdopyeong-ro), Singok IC, and City Road No. 5, totaling three locations. At each point, Gimpo Police Station will provide support, and traffic safety personnel, sign cars, and rubber cones will be intensively deployed. An emergency contact system will be maintained to respond immediately to any unexpected situations, ensuring thorough safety measures. Additionally, information about the traffic control will be intensively announced in advance through road variable message signs (VMS), banners, navigation-linked traffic guidance, and safety text messages.

A Gimpo City official stated, "This traffic control on Gimpo Hangang-ro is a safety-focused measure, scheduled for the late-night hours of Saturday and early Sunday morning when traffic is at its lowest during the weekend," adding, "We will complete the construction quickly and safely while minimizing inconvenience to residents."
