The city explained that this contest was organized to provide aspiring creators with fresh and innovative ideas the opportunity to debut, and to establish a webtoon industry ecosystem that grows alongside the local community.
The application period will run from March 25 to March 31, and submissions can be made via email (contest@kenaz-re.com).
Eligibility is open to aspiring creators aged 19 or older who have no previous serialization experience or have serialized fewer than two works in the media. There are no restrictions on subject matter, theme, or genre. However, adult content and works that have already won awards or secured contracts are excluded.
The total prize pool is 100 million won, with the grand prize winner receiving 50 million won and the excellence award winner receiving 30 million won. A total of 10 works will be selected. In particular, both grand prize and excellence award winners will receive not only prize money but also follow-up support for webtoon serialization and distribution.
A city official stated, "This contest will not only provide a stepping stone for new creators across the country to debut in webtoons, but will also serve as an opportunity for Suncheon City to establish itself as a new hub and center of the webtoon industry. We look forward to the interest and participation of many creators."
