Completing Recovery Projects Before the Rainy Season
Preventing Disasters and Alleviating Inconvenience for Residents
Hamyang County, South Gyeongsang Province, held a strategy meeting presided over by Deputy County Governor Yang Sangho, with relevant public officials in attendance, to expedite the disaster recovery project following the heavy rainfall in July of last year.
At the meeting held on January 15, Deputy County Governor Yang reviewed the current status and future plans for the restoration of facilities damaged by the heavy rain, and discussed comprehensive measures to ensure residents' safety and prevent secondary damage.
In particular, the meeting focused on thoroughly checking specific implementation plans for the restoration of infrastructure closely related to residents' daily lives, such as roads and rivers, to ensure that all projects can be completed before this year's rainy season through strict process management.
The disaster recovery project for the July heavy rainfall consists of a total of 134 cases, with Hamyang County handling 123 of them. To date, 47 cases have been completed, and 76 cases that are under construction or scheduled to begin are being pushed forward with the goal of completion by June. The remaining 11 cases are being carried out separately by Gyeongsangnam-do Province, the National Forest Management Office, and the Korea Rural Community Corporation.
Deputy County Governor Yang Sangho stated, "Through this strategy meeting, we will do our utmost to expedite the disaster recovery project and prevent any recurrence of damage during this year's rainy season," and urged, "Please make disaster recovery the top priority through close cooperation among all relevant departments."
