Song Requests Accepted Online and Offline, Selected Audience Members Invited
Discovery Series 1 Concert on January 22?23
The Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra will hold a concert featuring pieces requested by the audience through both online and offline surveys.
This performance, part of the Discovery Series 1 titled "Dang·Sin·Deul - We Will Play Your Requested Songs," will take place at the Ensemble Hall of the Daejeon Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. on January 22 and 23.
This concert is particularly meaningful because it goes beyond simple appreciation, allowing the audience to directly participate in the program selection.
Last December, the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra collected song requests from the audience through online and offline surveys over the course of a month. Based on the results, the orchestra carefully selected the most popular pieces to be performed at this event.
The concert will be conducted by rising conductor Kim Junyoung, who reached the semifinals of the 2023 Koussevitzky International Conducting Competition and is currently serving as the Second Kapellmeister at the Heidelberg Municipal Theater in Germany.
Kim Junyoung, known for his delicate and dynamic interpretations on European stages, is expected to breathe new life into the requested pieces for the citizens.
Part 1 of the concert, curated directly by the audience, will feature the overture to Mozart's opera "Cos? fan tutte," the second movement of Elgar's Serenade for Strings, the third movement of Dvorak's Symphony No. 7, and the third movement of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 "Path?tique."
Part 2 will conclude the evening with the overture to Johann Strauss II's operetta "Die Fledermaus," the ninth variation "Nimrod" from Elgar's Enigma Variations, and the fourth movement of Sibelius's Symphony No. 2, providing the audience with an unforgettable immersive experience.
In particular, the audience members whose requested pieces were selected will be specially invited to the concert, adding to the emotional impact of the event.
