Regular License Registration Tax Imposed
18,986 Cases Totaling 280 Million Won
Miryang City in South Gyeongsang Province announced on January 16 that it has imposed a total of 280 million won in regular license registration taxes on 18,986 cases this year and has sent out tax notices to taxpayers.
The regular license registration tax is levied annually on January 1 on individuals or corporations for licenses that either have no set validity period or have a validity period exceeding one year, treating such licenses as if they have been renewed on that date.
Licenses are classified from Type 1 to Type 5 depending on the type and scale of business. In urban areas, the tax ranges from 7,500 won to 45,000 won per license, while in towns and rural areas, it ranges from 4,500 won to 27,000 won per license, with the amount varying by license type.
The payment deadline is February 2. Taxes can be paid conveniently at ATMs of all financial institutions nationwide using a debit card, bankbook, or credit card without the tax notice, as well as through the Wetax virtual ARS simple payment system, local tax deposit accounts, and virtual account transfers.
Lee Joonseung, Head of the Taxation Division, stated, "The license registration tax is an important source of funding for improving citizens' welfare and regional development. We kindly ask for the active cooperation of citizens to ensure that payments are made smoothly by the deadline."
