Five Students Selected for Each of K-Food and Impact Tracks
Ten-Day Individual Projects in New York
Hallym University (President Choi Yanghee) held the launch ceremony for ‘Station C Glocal Solverton@New York’ at the Seoul headquarters of ‘Like Lion’ on January 9. This event marked the official start of a program designed to foster practical global entrepreneurs by connecting with the local startup ecosystem in New York, thereby strengthening Hallym University's glocal entrepreneurship education.
The event was attended by Kim Yonggeun, Head Professor of Startup Business at Hallym University, Professor Park Jongkyu of the College of Staten Island (CSI), City University of New York (CUNY), as well as staff members from Hallym University’s Startup Support Center and Like Lion, who jointly planned and operate the program. Notably, ten students who were selected through fierce competition participated both online and offline, expressing their determination for the upcoming ten-day program in New York.
‘Glocal Solverton@New York’ will take place in New York from January 24 to February 2, and includes a problem-solving Solverton linked with local universities, startups, and expert networks, as well as mentoring and field visits. Participating students will be divided into K-Food and Impact tracks, and will have the opportunity to validate their business models in the global market.
Eunjae Park, a student majoring in Food and Nutrition and Startup Business, who joined the K-Food track, proposed an app development idea that provides customized Korean meal plans for users of the weight management drug Wegovy. Eunjae Park drew attention by proactively gathering actual user feedback from overseas influencers prior to the program, thereby conducting global customer validation even before the official start.
A Hallym University representative stated, “Station C Glocal Solverton@New York is a prime example of expanding the educational capabilities of a regionally-based university to the global field,” and added, “We will accelerate the training of practical glocal entrepreneurs by gradually expanding the program to locations such as Glocal Solverton@China and Singapore.”
Hallym University’s Station C plans to further strengthen its collaboration with CUNY CSI through this program. During this visit, the two institutions intend to sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for glocal entrepreneurship education and joint program operation. Moving forward, they aim to establish a sustainable global entrepreneurship education model through expanded student exchanges and joint projects.
