Expanded to 16 Institutions This Year
Direct Operation of 40 Diverse Programs Including Crafts, Art, Music, and Information Technology
The Daejeon Office of Education will be accepting applications for the “2026 Superintendent-Designated Lifelong Learning Centers” until January 28, in an effort to expand opportunities for local residents to participate in lifelong education.
This initiative aims to designate lifelong learning centers that will operate customized programs tailored to the unique characteristics of the region and the needs of learners.
Any lifelong education institution located in Daejeon is eligible to apply. Detailed information about the application process can be found on the Daejeon Office of Education website and on the Education Office’s local subsidy management system, Gyoyukcheong Botam-e.
This year, in particular, the number of designated institutions will be expanded to a total of 16, one more than the previous year, reflecting the local demand for learning. The selected institutions will receive varying amounts of subsidies for operating lifelong education programs, depending on their evaluation results.
Last year, the Daejeon Office of Education designated 15 lifelong education institutions as lifelong learning centers and provided them with subsidies. Each center directly operated a diverse range of 40 programs, including crafts, art, music, and information technology, offering learning opportunities to a total of 10,736 local residents over the year.
Kim Hyunim, Director of the Education Welfare and Safety Division at the Daejeon Office of Education, stated, “By expanding the designation of lifelong learning centers, we will be able to provide citizens with a wider variety of high-quality learning opportunities. We will continue to do our utmost to create an educational environment where local residents can improve their quality of life and enjoy the joy of learning.”
