KOSDAQ Opens Higher, Then Reverses to Decline

As of 9:11 a.m. on this day, the KOSPI index was down 0.28% from the previous trading day, standing at 4,679.55. The index opened at 4,685.11, down 0.16% from the previous session, but quickly reversed course after the market opened and soared to 4,706.33, surpassing the 4700 mark for the first time in history.
Individual investors and institutions are net buyers, purchasing 88.3 billion won and 87.9 billion won, respectively, which is driving the index upward. In contrast, foreign investors have sold off 175.9 billion won, engaging in profit-taking.
Many sectors are declining. The largest drops are seen in electricity & gas (-3.63%), transportation equipment & parts (-1.74%), securities (-1.06%), metals (-0.81%), IT services (-0.79%), chemicals (-0.71%), and insurance (-0.49%). On the other hand, medical & precision equipment (0.88%), construction (0.41%), machinery & equipment (0.60%), and electrical & electronics (0.56%) are on the rise.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, ranked first and second, are showing slight gains of 0.07% and 0.41%, respectively. In addition, Samsung Biologics (0.79%), SK Square (0.47%), and Doosan Enerbility (0.46%) are also rising. Meanwhile, LG Energy Solution (-0.51%), Hyundai Motor (-1.11%), HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (-2.02%), and Hanwha Aerospace (-1.72%) are declining.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is down 0.53% from the previous trading day, standing at 943.96. The index opened at 951.03, up 0.22% from the previous session, and climbed to 951.03 intraday, but soon turned downward and is maintaining a slightly weak trend.
Individual investors are net buyers of 127.7 billion won, but foreign investors and institutions are dragging the index down by selling 95.5 billion won and 27.6 billion won, respectively.
By sector, the largest declines are in finance (-1.38%), chemicals (-1.22%), metals (-1.16%), telecommunications (-0.73%), and pharmaceuticals (-0.68%). Construction (0.37%), non-metals (0.33%), publishing & media reproduction (0.31%), and transportation & warehousing (0.10%) are on the rise.
Among the top 10 market capitalization stocks, except for ABL Bio and HLB, which are flat, all other stocks are declining. These include Alteogen (-0.63%), EcoPro BM (-1.41%), EcoPro (-1.64%), Rainbow Robotics (-0.11%), Legochem Bio (-0.71%), Kolon TissueGene (-0.95%), and Peptron (-2.41%).
