The Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on January 13 that it was questioning Assemblyman Jin as the complainant regarding his report of Councilor Kim's alleged mobilization of a religious group.

Before the police investigation, Assemblyman Jin told reporters, "There is evidence suggesting that Councilor Kim Kyung attempted to illegally recruit followers of a specific religious group as party members," adding, "Today, I will release the original recording that I received as a tip-off."

He continued, "The People Power Party has faced many attacks based on absurd and false allegations, but even just looking at this case, I do not believe it will end with just Councilor Kim Kyung."

Previously, in September of last year, Assemblyman Jin released a recording indicating that Councilor Kim had allegedly recruited 3,000 Buddhist followers into the Democratic Party as dues-paying members in order to support Prime Minister Kim Minseok in this year's local election primary. He subsequently filed a complaint against Councilor Kim in October.
