Ssireum Star "Nottojang" No Beomsu Visits Gunwi Before Enlistment: "I Will Make a Strong Comeback After Discharge"

No Beomsu, known as the living legend of ssireum and affectionately called "Nottojang" ("No Beomsu wins again"), visited Gunwi County in Daegu, where his grandfather resides, to share the joy of his recent victory ahead of his military enlistment.

No Beomsu, who recently claimed his 25th Hwangso Trophy at the "2025 Uiseong Cheonhajangsa Ssireum Festival" held in Uiseong County, visited Gunwi County-a place like his hometown-on January 10 before beginning his military service, and had a meeting with Kim Jinyeol, Governor of Gunwi County.

He was accompanied on this visit by his uncle No Jongho and aunt Min Sunok, his steadfast supporters, making the occasion even more meaningful. It was reported that No Beomsu visited Gunwi to meet his grandfather in person and deliver the news of his glorious victory as a grandson.

During the meeting, Kim Jinyeol, Governor of Gunwi County, said, "I am very pleased that No Beomsu, the holder of the most Taebaek-class titles and a treasure of the ssireum world, took the time to visit Gunwi despite his busy schedule before enlistment. I am sure his grandfather in Gunwi feels great pride in his grandson's achievements," he encouraged. He added, "I hope you complete your military service in good health and return to dominate the ssireum arena once again."

No Beomsu expressed his gratitude, saying, "Gunwi, where my grandfather lives, has always been a place of comfort for me. I am glad I could win my last tournament before enlistment and come to greet him. Thanks to the support from Gunwi, I was able to come this far."

Recently, No Beomsu achieved a remarkable record by defeating Moon Junseok (Suwon Special City Hall) 3-0 in the Taebaek-class championship match, securing his third title of the season and his 25th career victory. He shed tears immediately after the match and once again showed his deep passion for ssireum during this meeting.

At the end of the meeting, No Beomsu declared, "During my military service starting next year, I will work hard to stay in shape so that when I return, people will say once again, 'No Beomsu has won again.' I promise to make a strong comeback."

After spending warm moments with his grandfather and family, No Beomsu will soon leave the ssireum arena for a while to fulfill his duty of national defense.
