Jongno District Extends Evening Civil Service Hours and Strengthens Care and Education Support

Visiting Passport Delivery Service
Full-Scale Launch of Integrated Medical and Nursing Care Project

Jongno District in Seoul (District Mayor: Chung Moonhun) will introduce a variety of administrative services this year to enhance convenience for residents.

Starting this month, the district office will extend the operating hours of its civil service office every Wednesday until 7 p.m. This measure is intended for residents who find it difficult to visit during regular hours due to work or academic commitments on weekdays. Services available include passport applications and issuance, issuance of integrated civil certificates (limited to resident registration certificates, seal certificates, and family relation certificates applied for by the individual), and family relation registration (domestic marriage registration).

The operating hours for the Digital Civil Service ZONE have also been extended by one hour. To align with the operating hours of nearby embassies, PC access for internet searches and issuance of civil documents is now available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays.

The district will also launch a 'visiting passport delivery service' for seniors and people with disabilities. Eligible recipients are residents aged 75 or older and individuals with severe mobility impairments who have completed their passport application at the district office. Upon request, an employee will visit the applicant's residence to deliver the passport.

The district will implement the 'Jongno Vulnerable Senior Citizen Insurance' for basic livelihood security recipients and residents aged 65 or older in the lower-income bracket. This aims to address health deterioration and instability caused by delayed treatment due to the burden of medical expenses. The insurance covers up to 2 million won in accident funeral support, as well as hospitalization costs due to transportation accidents, emergency room treatment costs, and accident surgery expenses.

The 'Jongno District Integrated Medical and Nursing Care Project' will be fully launched in March this year. It targets seniors who have difficulty with daily activities and people under 65 with severe physical or brain disabilities. When hospital visits are challenging or there is a care gap after discharge, the district will provide necessary services ranging from home medical visits to emergency care.

Educational initiatives for elementary, middle, and high school students have also been prepared. Starting in March, a mentoring program will match students from Seoul Science High School with local fifth and sixth graders for one-on-one learning support. In September, 20 first-year middle school students who are either enrolled in or residing in the district will be specially selected to participate in the gifted education program at Seoul Science High School.

To meet the demand for community sports and improve residents' satisfaction, the 'Ogin Sports Center' (75 Pilundaero) is set to officially open in March. The center will include a screen golf facility, a park golf course, and multipurpose classrooms for yoga and pilates programs.

District Mayor Chung Moonhun stated, "We hope that the various new and expanded projects launched this year will add convenience to the daily lives of our residents."
