The situation surrounding the anti-government protests in Iran, now in their 14th day, is escalating to its worst point.
According to international media reports on the 10th (local time), hospitals in Tehran and other cities in Iran are being overwhelmed by casualties to the extent that the medical system is paralyzed. There are also reports from Shiraz, in southwestern Iran, that there is a shortage of medical staff to treat the wounded.
According to The Telegraph, the anti-government protests that began in Tehran on the 28th of last month have spread to 340 regions across 31 provinces. Some global media outlets estimate that the number of casualties exceeds several hundred, with even more people detained.
As the situation in Iran rapidly deteriorates, it has been reported that the U.S. government has begun formulating plans for military intervention. The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, citing government officials, reported that President Trump has already been briefed on military intervention options and is reviewing whether to proceed.
On Truth Social that day, President Trump stated, "Iran may be closer to freedom than ever before," and added, "The United States is ready to help."Israel has gone on alert in preparation for the possibility that the Trump administration could launch a military operation against Iran.
The Iranian parliament held an emergency session and declared that if the United States carries out military intervention, they would retaliate against both the United States and Iran. Reza Pahlavi, the last crown prince of the Pahlavi dynasty overthrown by the 1979 Iranian Islamic Revolution, is encouraging the protesters.
