Byungsam Kim (57), former head of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority, announced on January 11 his intention to run for mayor of Yeongcheon.
On this day, Kim stated on Facebook, "Yeongcheon is at a moment that requires decisive action. We need actions, not words; results, not slogans. I will take responsibility for driving change in Yeongcheon," expressing his intention to run.
He added, "I will get Yeongcheon, which has stalled, moving again. I will prove it on the ground, through results."
Kim is scheduled to officially announce his candidacy at Yeongcheon Public Market in downtown Yeongcheon at 11 a.m. on January 12.
After passing the first National Local Administration Examination in 1995, Kim has built a reputation as an administrative expert in North Gyeongsang Province over the past 30 years, serving as Director of International Trade at North Gyeongsang Province, Director of Culture and Sports, Deputy Mayor of Yeongcheon, Deputy Mayor of Pohang, and Head of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority.
