Visit to the Completion Site of the LH Participatory Street Housing Maintenance Project
Discussion on Revitalization Measures
"I Will Strive to Improve the Residential Environment"
Jin Kyohun, Mayor of Gangseo District in Seoul, visited Yeomchang Station Dongmoon The East on January 9. This is the first project in Seoul to be completed through the LH (Korea Land and Housing Corporation) Participatory Street Housing Maintenance Project.

Mayor Jin met with LH officials, union leaders, and others to discuss ways to revitalize public participation street housing maintenance projects. He reviewed the progress of the project and listened to on-site feedback, including difficulties faced by residents during the maintenance process.
This housing project, carried out in partnership with LH, significantly shortened the project timeline. It was completed in just 4 years and 9 months from the establishment of the union to final completion. An old residential building constructed in 1981 was transformed into a newly built 18-story apartment complex.
Kim Sujin, Director of the Urban Maintenance Project Department at the LH Metropolitan Area Maintenance Project Headquarters, stated, "If there are other candidate sites in Gangseo District, we will arrange opportunities to explain the project to residents," adding, "Since Gangseo District covers a very large area, we will continue to actively identify new sites for street housing maintenance projects."
Mayor Jin Kyohun commented, "The public participation street housing maintenance project shortens the process and provides benefits in project financing thanks to LH’s involvement. I visited the site to explore how this could be applied in the district," and added, "I will do my utmost to improve the residential environment and quality of life for Gangseo District residents."
Yeomchang Station Dongmoon The East is a 66-unit apartment complex located at 283 Yeomchang-dong, created through the LH participatory street housing maintenance project. It was developed through the Deoksu Townhouse Street Housing Maintenance Project and was completed in December last year.
The LH participatory street housing maintenance project is a small-scale urban maintenance initiative led by residents, with LH participating as a joint project implementer. LH provides support for union establishment, finances up to 90% of the total project cost, purchases unsold units to mitigate project risks, ensures transparent project management, and offers administrative and technical support.
