This on-site inspection was organized ahead of the opening of the Taebaeksan Snow Festival, Taebaek’s representative winter festival, to review overall festival preparations and to ensure that visitors can enjoy the event safely and comfortably.
The city checked the installation areas for large snow sculptures and the progress of artificial snowmaking, focusing on Dangol Square, the festival’s main venue, and reviewed the overall facility layout and readiness for operations across the site.
Officials from the Taebaek City Cultural Foundation and relevant city departments participated in the inspection, sharing updates on artificial snowmaking operations and facility installations, and exchanging opinions on potential inconveniences and areas needing improvement during the festival’s operation.
In particular, the inspection focused on key aspects requiring on-site management during the festival, such as the safety of visitor movement routes, the installation of safety facilities, and the placement and operational plans for convenience facilities.
A Taebaek City official stated, “The Taebaeksan Snow Festival is Taebaek’s signature winter event, attracting many citizens and tourists each year, so ensuring visitor safety and orderly event management is of utmost importance. We will review our on-site response system for changing weather conditions and pay special attention to the safety of on-site staff in preparation for severe cold waves, so that the festival can be concluded successfully.”
Meanwhile, the 33rd Taebaeksan Snow Festival will be held for nine days from January 31 to February 8, 2026, throughout Taebaeksan National Park. This year’s festival, under the slogan “2026 REAL Taebaeksan Snow Festival,” will feature a variety of exhibitions and hands-on programs set against the backdrop of Taebaeksan’s winter scenery.
During the festival, visitors can enjoy a range of programs for all ages, including a large snow sculpture exhibition, a national university student snow sculpture competition, large snow and ice sledding hills, an igloo cafeteria, an indoor kids’ playground, the Taebaeksan healing and wellness experience center, a national snow flower climbing competition, and Taebaeksan backpacking. These offerings are expected to provide visitors with unique winter memories that can only be experienced in Taebaek.
