Kia Showcases 19 Vehicles Including EV3 GT at Brussels Motor Show
EV2 Offers 448km Range on a Single Charge, Optimized for Urban Driving
"Spaciousness and a Differentiated User Experience Beyond Its Class"
Kia has unveiled its new compact electrified sport utility vehicle (SUV), the Kia EV2 (EV2).
On January 9 (local time), Kia held the world premiere of the EV2 at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show at Brussels Expo in Belgium. As Kia's sixth dedicated electric vehicle, the EV2 features specifications optimized for urban driving, a distinctive design, spacious interior, and a range of convenience features. It is expected to become a key model for the European market.
The EV2 measures 4,060mm in length, 1,800mm in width, and 1,575mm in height. It applies Kia's design philosophy, "Opposites United," to create a robust yet modern SUV image. The front end features a smoothly contoured hood and a bumper with pronounced volume, giving it a strong presence. Vertically positioned headlamps at each end and the Star Map signature lighting add a sophisticated touch.
This Star Map signature lighting, combined with a body-colored panel that replaces the traditional grille of internal combustion vehicles, realizes an evolved "Tiger Face" design.
The side profile expresses a confident image with a three-dimensional shoulder line. The auto flush door handles, geometrically shaped wheel arches, and solid fender design work together to emphasize a strong yet refined appearance. At the rear, the three-dimensional and intricately crafted taillights make the vehicle appear even wider.
The interior is designed as an emotional yet practical space based on the "Picnic Box" concept. Centered around a wraparound crash pad, the panoramic wide display integrates a 12.3-inch cluster, 5-inch climate control screen, and 12.3-inch infotainment system for a seamless look. The horizontal air vents and physical buttons further enhance the sense of spaciousness and comfort.
Mood lighting that runs across the crash pad and connects to the front door trim adds a sense of coziness. The system also provides intuitive information to the driver by linking with the turn signals, achieving a harmony of modern design and functionality.
The EV2 GT Line is distinguished by exclusive bumpers with body-colored garnishes, 19-inch dedicated wheels, black high-gloss door frame moldings, and beltlines. The interior features a contrast of dark gray and off-white colors, creating a luxurious and dynamic atmosphere.
The EV2 Long Range model is equipped with a 61.0kWh battery, enabling a maximum driving range of approximately 448km on a single charge (WLTP standard). The "EV Route Planner" function guides drivers along optimal routes via charging stations, providing peace of mind for long-distance travel.
Fast charging from 10% to 80% takes 30 minutes for the Long Range model (internal measurement) and 29 minutes for the Standard model. The EV2 supports both 11kW and 22kW AC charging, and the "Plug & Charge (PnC)" feature allows for automatic authentication and payment when the charging cable is connected.
Kia has equipped the EV2 with a high-output C-MDPS (column-mounted motor-driven power steering) and optimized the steering gear ratio for agile handling, even in narrow alleys and complex intersections. The rear coupled torsion beam axle features hydro bushings to minimize shocks from speed bumps and road irregularities.
Additionally, the EV2 is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) at the level of higher-class vehicles, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Steering Wheel Grip Detection (HoD), Lane Keeping Assist 2, Highway Driving Assist 2, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and an In-Car Monitoring System (ICMU).
The column-type electronic shift-by-wire (SBW) lever creates ample storage space in the floor console, while sliding second-row seats allow the rear legroom to be expanded from a standard 885mm up to 958mm. The rear seats also provide a generous 973mm of headroom and a reclining function, ensuring comfort even for tall adults. Cargo space starts at 362 liters and expands up to 1,201 liters with the second row folded. A 15-liter frunk is offered for the first time in this segment.
Notably, before boarding, a welcome message ("HELLO=)") is displayed through the driver's side window, and upon exiting, a message ("HAVE A NICE DAY") appears inside the door handle, providing an interactive experience for customers.
The Harman Kardon premium sound system is available as an option. The EV2 also supports a variety of features, including display themes from Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, and National Geographic (available for purchase or subscription via the Kia Connect Store), music streaming, and "Pet Mode" for pets, supporting in-vehicle relaxation, work, and leisure activities.
Kia President Song Ho Sung stated, "Among Kia's dedicated electric vehicles, this is the most compact model yet, offering the most vibrant interior experience and emotional design. With spaciousness and a differentiated user experience that transcend its class, we will take the lead in popularizing electric vehicles."
Meanwhile, at the Brussels Motor Show, Kia also unveiled the EV3 GT, EV4 5-Door GT, and EV5 GT. Detailed specifications for the EV3 GT, EV4 4-Door GT, and EV5 GT will be released in the first half of the year, with plans for launch in the domestic market.
