Muan County in South Jeolla Province held a New Year's greeting meeting for the heads of local institutions and social organizations on January 7, 2026, in the Muan County Office conference room to mark the start of the Year of Byeongo.
According to the county, more than 100 people attended the event, including County Mayor Kim San, the chairperson of the county council, provincial assembly members, and heads of various institutions and social organizations in the region.
The event began with New Year's greetings among the participants, followed by the national pledge, a New Year's address by the county mayor, a rice cake cutting ceremony, and a toast.
In his New Year's address, Kim San, Mayor of Muan County, expressed his intention to designate 2026 as a year of transformation for Muan's leap forward, and to promote regional development through cooperation with institutions and social organizations.
On this day, the county presented its administrative direction for the year, including: advancing as a future-leading city; building a sustainable city; integrated development in the fields of airport, transportation, energy, and industry; strengthening cooperation with institutions and social organizations; and improving the quality of life for residents.
Meanwhile, participants continued their New Year's greetings by sharing sweet potato punch made from the region's specialty yellow clay sweet potatoes and O-ring rice cakes made with local onions.
