Shinhan Bank announced on January 8 that it has launched the 'Shinhan Nara Sarang Card' for members of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces and opened issuance centers at 16 regional Military Manpower Administration offices.
Shinhan Bank opened these issuance centers in line with the start of the '2026 Enlistment Physical Examination' schedule, which begins on this day.
The newly launched 'Shinhan Nara Sarang Card' has been designed to reflect the actual spending patterns of service members. It offers tangible monthly discounts of up to 230,000 won.
The core benefit is a P.X. (military store) discount service, which provides a 20% discount every day regardless of the purchase amount at military stores, with no additional conditions such as salary transfer required to receive the benefit immediately. In particular, for payments under 30,000 won per transaction, a maximum monthly discount of up to 30,000 won is available. Shinhan Bank explained that this differentiated feature applies the same discount rate to small and repeated payments, considering that the average transaction amount for service members at military stores is around 4,000 to 5,000 won.
Additionally, to cover the overall daily spending of service members, the card offers a 20% discount at GS25 and CU convenience stores, a 20% cashback on public transportation (city buses and subways), and discounts across various sectors favored by those in their 20s, including telecommunications, delivery, mobility, OTT, and fashion. Through 'multi-membership services' such as GS POP, Happy Point, CJ ONE, and LG Electronics, users can receive discounts and rewards without separate sign-up procedures.
Financial services linked to the group are also provided. The Shinhan Bank 'Nara Sarang Account' offers up to 2.0% annual interest on salary transfers and premier-level benefits in the 'Shinhan TOPS CLUB Membership.' The 'Soldiers' Tomorrow Savings Deposit' provides up to 10% annual interest, the highest among banks.
The 'Free Accident Insurance for Conscripts' included with the 'Shinhan Nara Sarang Card' has expanded its coverage amount to up to 500 million won and strengthened additional coverage for financial fraud and public transportation accidents.
The card design was jointly created with Professor Kim Sujeong of Seoul National University's College of Fine Arts, incorporating the shape of Korea's territory and the cardholder's name to enhance its symbolism. The results of a design preference survey among men in their 20s were also reflected to ensure continued use after discharge from military service.
With the launch of the 'Shinhan Nara Sarang Card,' Shinhan Bank is also promoting a service member welfare enhancement plan worth a total of 28 billion won. This includes expanding military infrastructure, providing cashback for self-development expenses, and supporting mobile phone purchase costs during military service. The bank also plans to improve the military administration environment by supporting the installation of kiosks and equipment replacement at Military Manpower Administration offices.
A Shinhan Bank representative stated, "We will continue to expand our role in finance, connecting young people and the nation."
