Seonyu Library, the first library in Seoul specialized for the “twin generation,” won the Presidential Award in the national library operation evaluation last year. This achievement marks an upgrade from the previous year’s Ministerial Commendation to the highest national honor.
Remarkable results were also achieved in childcare and care services. The National Mind Investment Support Project was upgraded from “Excellence” in 2024 to “Grand Prize” in 2025, and the Maternal and Child Health Program was elevated from the Seoul Mayor’s Award to the Minister of Health and Welfare Commendation.
The district also achieved a number of first-time awards since the launch of the 8th administration, including the Prime Minister’s Commendation for contributions to childcare, the Grand Prize for best practices in supporting foreign residents, the Prime Minister’s Award for excellence in statistical work, and the Prime Minister’s Award for promoting national symbols.
In last year’s joint evaluation of local governments, the district achieved the highest rating-Grade 1-among the 25 autonomous districts in Seoul. The Caregiver Family Rest Program, introduced for the first time nationwide, was selected as the Grand Prize winner in the Korea Volunteerism and Sharing Best Practices Contest. The district plans to continue actively utilizing external evaluation results to improve administrative operations and supplement policies.
Cho Hogwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, stated, "This recognition is the result of our employees’ proactive efforts in their respective roles, combined with the participation of district residents in municipal administration. We will continue to place our citizens at the center of administration, listen to voices in the field, and focus on responsible governance."
