On the 7th (local time), Secretary Rubio told reporters at Congress that he would meet with Danish officials next week when asked why the U.S. was not engaging in talks about the situation in Greenland as Denmark had requested.

When asked whether the United States was attempting to purchase Greenland, Secretary Rubio replied, "That was President Trump's intention," explaining that President Trump had expressed this during his first term and that it was not a new position.

He also reaffirmed that the Trump administration is seeking to secure Greenland for national security reasons and is not ruling out military means.

Rubio stated, "I have always said that the President should always have options."

However, he clarified, "I am not speaking specifically about Greenland, but rather about the world in general. If the President identifies a threat to U.S. national security, every President has the option to respond with military means."

He added, "We always prefer to resolve issues through means other than military action," noting that the U.S. also tried other approaches in Venezuela but resorted to military measures after those failed.

Previously, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated regarding Denmark, "The President and his team are discussing various options to achieve this important foreign policy objective, and of course, the use of the U.S. military is always an option available to the Commander-in-Chief."

As the United States openly expresses its intention to secure sovereignty over Greenland, Ant?nio Costa, President of the European Council, declared that the European Union fully supports Greenland and Denmark.

At an event in Nicosia marking Cyprus's assumption of the EU Council Presidency, President Costa said, "To be clear on the issue of Greenland, Greenland belongs to its people, and no decision regarding Denmark or Greenland can be made without Denmark or Greenland."

President Costa emphasized, "They have the full support and solidarity of the European Union."
