The department store industry is launching pre-order sales of gift sets ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

First, Lotte Department Store will hold its event at all locations for 17 days from January 8 to January 25. The store will offer discounts of up to approximately 70% on around 170 items, including meat, seafood, fresh produce, and groceries.

This year’s pre-order sales for Lunar New Year gifts focus on minimizing the burden of choice for customers. The selection is centered around best-selling products that received positive feedback during last year’s holiday season.

For meat gift sets, which are among the most popular holiday gifts, Lotte Department Store has expanded its range of small packages and mixed cuts. This year, the supply of small-packaged Korean beef gift sets has increased by about 25% compared to last Lunar New Year, and the quantity of mixed Korean beef gift sets, which allow customers to enjoy various cuts such as sirloin, striploin, and chuck flap tail, has also increased by 20%. The "Korean Beef and Truffle Omakase Gift (0.9kg, 240,000 won)" has also seen its supply boosted by 20% due to high demand last year.

The fresh produce section has been curated around seasonal fruits. The "Practical Jeju 3-Item Set," which includes winter seasonal fruits such as Hallabong, Redhyang, and Cheonhyehyang, is available for under 100,000 won. Other offerings include the "Lepiceri Apple, Pear, Shine Muscat Set (145,000 won)" and the premium "El Premier Prestige Collection No.2 (160,000 won)," which features citrus fruits and mangoes.

To help customers easily prepare for holiday meals, Lotte Department Store is introducing the "Premium Hansang Table Gift Set" from the popular Daechi-dong side dish store "Delicious Chan" for the first time this Lunar New Year. This item is limited to 30 sets during the pre-order period and comes with a 10% discount.

The alcoholic beverage gifts feature a premium lineup. The "Actress Kim Hee-sun X Ballade Wine Edition (90,000 won)," which sold out within two hours after its launch as a Chuseok gift last year, will be available in additional quantities and sold at a 10% discount during the pre-order period. Additionally, Lotte Department Store will exclusively offer six wines that won the retail industry’s first blind contest, "2025 The Vlind."

On Lotte Department Store Mall, the "Lunar New Year Gift Set Promotion" will run from January 9 to February 17. Customers can receive up to three types of discount coupons worth up to 10%, as well as food-specific discounts of up to 50,000 won.

Shinsegae Department Store will begin pre-order sales for the 2026 Lunar New Year gift sets from January 9 to January 29. The pre-order selection includes approximately 490 items: 72 agricultural products, 35 meat products, 31 seafood products, 35 health and tea items, 149 wines, and 7 desserts. Discounts of up to 60% off the regular price will be offered.

Key discount rates for major pre-order items include: Korean beef, one of the most popular holiday gifts, at 5-10%; dried yellow corvina at 20-24%; fresh produce at 10%; wine at 60%; health supplements at 55%; and desserts at 10%.

For fresh produce, Shinsegae will introduce the "Shinsegae Select Farm (Designated Origin) Gift Set," featuring fruits chosen by buyers from newly designated regions. Notable products include the "Shinsegae Apple-Pear Mixed Manbok (Select Farm, 207,000 won)" and the "Shinsegae Thai Mango (Select Farm, 67,500 won)," which includes Thai mangoes.

In the meat category, Shinsegae has expanded its "Shinsegae Female Korean Beef" line, with buyers directly participating in auctions and working with designated intermediaries to streamline distribution. Featured items include the "Premium Korean Beef Dabok (617,500 won)," "Shinsegae Female Korean Beef Dabok (241,800 won)," and "Shinsegae Female Korean Beef The Prime Gourmet Manbok (380,000 won)."

This Lunar New Year, the wine selection has also been significantly expanded. Offerings will include "Domaine Cheze Cornas 2019 (155,000 won)" and "KS Vina Cobos Gift (240,000 won)."

Shinsegae Department Store’s pre-order gift set sales will also be available on SSG.com and Beyond Shinsegae. Depending on the purchase amount, customers can receive up to 400,000 won in SSG Money rewards.

Hyundai Department Store: Over 200 Gift Sets Up to 30% Off... 20% Increase in Supply

Hyundai Department Store has increased its supply of pre-order gift sets by about 20% compared to last year, as more customers are looking to prepare holiday gifts in advance at reasonable prices due to rising inflation.

During the event, Hyundai Department Store will offer discounts on popular products such as the "Hyundai Korean Beef Sodam Guk Set (310,000 won)," "Hyundai Premium Mixed Fruit Special Guk Set (260,000 won)," and "Yeonggwang Special Dried Yellow Corvina Nan Set (155,000 won)."

The event will also be held on the official Hyundai Department Store online mall "The Hyundai.com" (January 9 to February 16) and the Hyundai Home Shopping official online mall "Hyundai H Mall" (January 22 to February 12).

The Hyundai.com will offer up to an additional 5% discount for purchases of Lunar New Year gift sets made with Hyundai Department Store cards from January 9 to February 16. Hyundai H Mall will provide up to 10% H Point rewards based on the purchase amount from January 22 to February 12, along with 10% discount coupons (up to 15 coupons per ID, maximum 20,000 won) for orders over 10,000 won.

Galleria: Pre-Order for 300 Products from January 14 to 28

Galleria Department Store will begin pre-order sales for the "2026 Lunar New Year Gift Sets" from January 14 to January 28.

This year, approximately 300 products, including premium Korean beef and high-end ingredient sets as well as practical gift sets, will be available at discounts of up to 50% during the pre-order period.

One highlight is the "Galleria Signature Gift Set," a full table setting featuring only the finest ingredients such as Korean beef, abalone, mushrooms, and fruits. Other unique offerings include "Gangjin Maekwoo Premium Korean Beef," "9+ Korean Beef," caviar and other luxury ingredient gifts, limited-edition honey, and special seaweed snack gift sets.

There will also be a promotion offering additional G-Cash (Galleria mobile cash) for purchases over a certain amount. Lunar New Year gift sets will also be available through online channels such as Galleria Mall and KakaoTalk Gift.

The main sales period for Galleria’s Lunar New Year gift sets will run from January 29 to February 16, immediately following the pre-order period.
