Samsung Changwon Hospital Regional Patient Safety Center Receives "Excellent" Rating in Performance Evaluation

Systematic Sharing of Patient Safety Information and Active Reporting
Recognized for Advancing a Culture of Regional Patient Safety

The Regional Patient Safety Center at Samsung Changwon Hospital of Sungkyunkwan University has been recognized for its operational excellence, receiving an "Excellent" rating in the "2025 Regional Patient Safety Center Performance Evaluation" organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. This achievement affirms the center's capabilities in managing regional patient safety initiatives.

Regional Patient Safety Centers are institutions that conduct education, promotion, and support activities for local medical institutions to prevent patient safety incidents and promote a culture of safety. Currently, there are 10 such centers nationwide-including Samsung Changwon Hospital-comprising 5 medical institutions and 5 associations or organizations. Their operational performance is evaluated annually to ensure effectiveness.


Samsung Changwon Hospital is the only tertiary hospital in the Gyeongsang region operating a Regional Patient Safety Center. Leveraging a variety of online and offline communication channels and infrastructure, the center systematically shares patient safety information with local hospitals and clinics. It has also been recognized for raising awareness about reporting patient safety incidents, thereby encouraging active reporting and contributing to the establishment of a patient safety culture in the region.


Samsung Changwon Hospital runs a range of programs, including training for patient safety officers, support for patient safety supplies, and patient safety improvement case competitions. In 2025, the center established a collaborative network with 126 local medical institutions, associations, and organizations, thereby serving as a leading hub for regional patient safety activities.


Choi Youngcheol, Director of the Regional Patient Safety Center at Samsung Changwon Hospital, stated, "This achievement is the result of our collaboration with the local community as the sole Regional Patient Safety Center in the Gyeongsang region. We will continue to expand our role in creating a patient-centered and safe medical environment."
