On the opening day of CES 2026, January 6 (local time), Chairman Chung appeared at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) in the United States. He arrived at the LVCC West Hall in a G90 at approximately 9:36 a.m.
His booth tour began at 9:41 a.m., just before the official opening, with a visit to the Doosan Group exhibition hall. For about 10 minutes, he viewed exhibits such as AI-powered Small Modular Reactor (SMR) modules, fuel cells, and Doosan Bobcat heavy equipment. The Doosan Group booth is located directly in front of the Hyundai Motor Group booth.

He then moved to the Hyundai Motor Group exhibition hall, where he observed the logistics robot system and the 'Spot AI Keeper,' which automates assembly quality inspections. He also viewed the humanoid robot 'Atlas' from Boston Dynamics, the group's robotics affiliate, and held a conversation with Boston Dynamics CEO Robert Playter and Aya Durbin, Head of Humanoid Application Strategy.
Chairman Chung's tour continued with the next-generation autonomous mobility robot platform 'MobED,' which won the CES Best of Innovation Award. He also examined the IONIQ 5 robotaxi, the electric vehicle charging system, and Hyundai WIA's parking robot, before conversing with Carolina Parada, Senior Director at Google DeepMind.

At 10:15 a.m., he arrived at the Qualcomm exhibition hall. In a private meeting room, he met with Akashi Palkiwala, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Qualcomm, while viewing the exhibits. Jose Munoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, who met him on site, interpreted Chairman Chung's decision to visit Qualcomm immediately after the Hyundai Motor booth as "very significant."
Given that Hyundai Motor Group has designated 'AI robotics' as a new growth engine and is focusing its efforts on developing humanoid robots, there is growing speculation that global collaboration will continue. The previous day, Boston Dynamics had formed a strategic partnership with Google DeepMind. On the same day, Hyundai Motor Group Vice Chairman Jang Jaehoon commented on securing physical AI capabilities, saying, "Global collaboration seems to be the most important," and added, "We will soon be able to share areas where we can instill confidence in the market together with global companies."

Afterwards, he walked to the LVCC Central Hall to visit the LG Electronics booth. Guided by Eun Seokhyun, President of the VS Business Division, he moved to a dedicated vehicle solutions exhibition area and experienced sitting in a mock driver's seat. For about 10 minutes, he viewed automotive AI technologies such as the Ultra View windshield screen, AI cockpit, displays, autonomous driving applications, driver facial sensing, and audio systems.

At the Wynn Hotel, where Samsung Electronics had set up an exclusive exhibition hall, he met with Noh Taemoon, President and Head of Device Experience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. Starting at 11:20 a.m., he viewed the 130-inch Micro RGB TV, the AI Food Manager refrigerator, and the robot vacuum cleaner in succession. After an extended discussion with Vice Chairman Jang about the robot vacuum's driving performance and suction power, he proposed a collaboration to President Noh, saying, "Let's do a collaboration with us."
In the Galaxy Zone, he viewed the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Galaxy Book6 series, and personally tried folding the recently launched Galaxy Z Tri-Fold smartphone, which folds twice. When Chairman Chung remarked, "I should get one for my mother-in-law. (Because the screen is large) older people seem to like it," the executives from both companies smiled.
