Gyeonggi Province to Support Small-Scale Home Remodeling for 85 Households in 13 Cities and Counties

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government will continue its "Residential Passive Remodeling Support Project" this year, following last year, to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by subsidizing construction costs for high airtightness (preventing air leakage) insulation reinforcement and the installation of high-performance windows in single-family and multi-family homes.

The project targets single-family homes and multi-unit or row houses that are more than 10 years old. Through a preliminary demand survey, 85 households in 13 cities and counties, including Yongin and Goyang, have been selected.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government will subsidize part of the construction costs for high-performance windows, high airtightness insulation reinforcement, high-efficiency lighting and boilers, and heat-reflective coatings for the selected households. Residents who wish to apply for support should contact the building departments of the 13 eligible cities and counties.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government plans to prioritize support for basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income households, single-parent families, households with multiple children, and basic pension recipients.

The maximum amount of support per household is 10 million won. The subsidy is split evenly, with 50% provided by the Gyeonggi Provincial Government and 50% by the respective city or county.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government, in collaboration with the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, will conduct preliminary consulting, including energy usage analysis for each applicant home. After the project is completed, the government will analyze the effectiveness of the program based on changes in energy consumption.

Kang Gilsun, Director of Architectural Policy at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, said, "Satisfaction with the project, which was completed for the first time last year, was very high at 96%. We will continue to make efforts to revitalize green remodeling in the private sector through the Residential Passive Remodeling Support Project."
