Iksan City in Jeonbuk is joining forces with schools and companies to foster hands-on technical experts who will lead the future of the secondary battery industry.
On January 5, Iksan City signed a 'Young Meister Training Partnership' agreement at Iri Technical High School to nurture specialized talent in the secondary battery sector.
This agreement aims to support the transition of Iri Technical High School into a Meister High School and to systematically cultivate professionals who can be immediately deployed to industrial sites.
In addition to Iksan City and Iri Technical High School, leading companies in the core materials field of secondary batteries-Lotte Energy Materials, Miwon Commercial, and Hansol Chemical-participated in the agreement. As top-tier partners, these companies plan to support practical talent development programs, including developing curricula based on job analyses in the industry, providing student internships, and offering teacher training.
Lotte Energy Materials possesses world-class copper foil manufacturing technology, while Miwon Commercial and Hansol Chemical are leading the localization of key materials that determine battery performance, such as electrolyte additives and silicon anode materials, respectively. Iksan City intends to focus administrative and financial support to ensure smooth industry-academia collaboration.
An official from Iksan City stated, "Through this collaboration, we have laid the foundation for nurturing key talent to drive the region's future," adding, "We will concentrate all administrative resources to help Iri Technical High School emerge as a hub for secondary battery industry talent development and to ensure local students grow into leaders of the industry and economy."
