Guri City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyunghyun) held the 2026 New Year's Greeting Event for the Year of the Fire Horse at Guri City Gymnasium on the 5th, pledging a strong leap forward to build "Joyful Change, a Happier Guri City."

The event was attended by more than 500 people, including Baek Kyunghyun, Mayor of Guri City; Shin Donghwa, Chairperson of the Guri City Council; Yoon Hojoong, National Assembly member; city and provincial council members; heads of various organizations and institutions; and citizens from all walks of life, making for a lively gathering.

In his New Year's address, Mayor Baek Kyunghyun stated, "To ensure a happy future for Guri City, we will solidify the foundation for a self-sufficient city and do our utmost to make Guri a happier and more livable city for our citizens by expanding and establishing new railway lines and improving the metropolitan transportation network."

Mayor Baek Kyunghyun continued, "This year's New Year's theme is 'Nojeokseonghae,' which means 'A drop of dew gathers to become the sea.' As we welcome the Year of the Red Horse, I sincerely wish that the energy of bold progress and success will spread throughout Guri City, filling the lives of all citizens with hope and happiness."
