"Complacency and Silo Mentality Are Unacceptable"

Kim Jonghun, Chairman of HanmiGlobal, stated on January 5, "We must secure a solid foothold in the nuclear power plant business through a strategic partnership system," adding, "Artificial intelligence (AI) is not a choice but a matter of survival, and we will pursue it as a core company-wide initiative."


In his 2026 New Year’s address, Chairman Kim said, "We must go beyond simply responding to the tide of change and proactively set the direction of the market and create new markets," presenting this year’s management slogan as "Design the Future and Create New Business."

Regarding the nuclear power plant business, he said, "We are not just winning project orders, but establishing a key axis that will drive sustainable growth in the future," emphasizing, "It is crucial to secure a solid foothold in the nuclear power plant business this year through a strategic partnership system." At the same time, he stressed the need for "fundamental structural improvement and transformation to break away from the excessive price competition structure in the domestic market."


He also put AI response at the forefront. Chairman Kim said, "We must achieve clear differentiation in business through AI and create new customer value," instructing, "Every department should establish specific implementation plans for how to apply AI to their work and work closely with the AX Office to systematically advance these efforts." He emphasized, "AI is not a task for a select few, but a core company-wide initiative."


However, Chairman Kim cautioned, "Challenging business goals cannot be achieved with the same old methods and complacent attitudes," calling for organizational execution and a performance-oriented culture. He said, "Above all, we must first have a sense of crisis," and warned, "If we rationalize things by saying 'No Other Choice,' we will inevitably fall into deeper stagnation." He continued, "Complacency, silo mentality, and the practice of diffusing or shifting responsibility are unacceptable," stressing, "Only a proactive attitude, intensity, perseverance, and relentless tenacity will lead to results."


He repeatedly emphasized teamwork. Chairman Kim said, "Winning contracts is not about individual competence, but is determined by the teamwork and synergy of the entire organization," and urged, "Develop clear winning strategies for key projects, and stay focused and committed until the very last moment." He referred to this attitude as "Jansim," explaining, "Jansim means double-checking, taking one more step, and never letting your guard down until the end."


Regarding organizational culture and work practices, he called for the establishment of the "HanmiGlobal Way." Chairman Kim said, "This must not be just a slogan or declaration, but a standard that is realized through actual behavior," and added, "Through the advancement of the HammiParsons Performance Management System (HPMS), we must move beyond performance management to establish a true performance creation system." HPMS refers to the internal performance evaluation system that HanmiGlobal developed in 2003. He went on to say, "Happiness management should also become a core part of our organizational culture, rooted in a member-centric approach."


Chairman Kim concluded, "2026 marks the meaningful 30th anniversary of HanmiGlobal’s founding," and emphasized, "This is a turning point where we must not only reflect on past achievements, but also consider how to shape the next 30 years and prepare for a new leap forward." He added, "I wish health and happiness to all members and their families, and I also extend my gratitude to our valued clients."
