On January 4, North Korea condemned the United States for capturing and extraditing Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro through a military operation, calling it "yet another example that clearly reaffirms the gangster-like and brutal nature of the United States, which the international community has witnessed countless times over a long period."
A spokesperson for North Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, "The hegemonic act committed by the United States in Venezuela constitutes the gravest form of sovereignty infringement," adding, "We strongly denounce and condemn this as a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter and international law, which are fundamentally aimed at respecting sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, and territorial integrity."

The spokesperson further urged, "The international community must recognize the gravity of the situation in Venezuela, which has had a destructive impact on the stability of regional and international relations, and must raise strong voices of protest and condemnation against the United States' habitual acts of violating sovereignty."
North Korea and Venezuela have maintained close ties in their anti-U.S. front since establishing diplomatic relations in 1974.
Given that Venezuela was virtually unable to resist the U.S. military operation, there are growing expectations that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's obsession with nuclear armament will only intensify.
Additionally, there are predictions that North Korea's deepening distrust of the United States will make it even more difficult to resume dialogue between the two countries.
