On January 2, Choi Pyungkyu, Chairman of SNT Group, presented the management principle of "Creating a Robustly Designed SNT" in his 2026 New Year's address, amid global supply chain restructuring and intensifying US-China tensions.
Chairman Choi pointed out, "The existing industrial system that has supported the world economy for over 60 years has reached its limit, and after 2028, we are entering a period of transition where the old ways will no longer work." He diagnosed, "The world economy is in the midst of a major transformation, and it is time to fundamentally redesign the entire system."
He mentioned changes in the job structure due to the spread of AI, the strengthening of tariff barriers, global supply chain restructuring, and the US-China power struggle, and assessed, "The uncertainty of the business environment is greater than ever." Nevertheless, he emphasized, "For SNT, which has continuously practiced proactive crisis management, this could instead be an opportunity to pioneer new markets."
Chairman Choi identified research and development capabilities as a core competitive strength. He stated, "It is time to move beyond being a fast follower and leap forward as a first mover," adding, "We must further advance our precision machinery and precision electronic control technologies, and create new growth engines by integrating AI-based autonomous driving and robotics technologies."
He also specifically addressed the US local production strategy. Chairman Choi explained that by utilizing the 330,000-square-meter plant in Louisiana, USA, secured last year, "SNT Energy's LNG combined cycle (HRSG) business and SNT Motive's automotive parts business will be supplied directly from a local plant without tariff barriers, in response to increasing US power demand."
He added, "SNT Dynamics, together with SNT Motive, will use the plant as a strategic base to serve as a Tier 1 partner in the US defense industry, mass-producing core products for US military weapon systems and conducting MRO business."
Chairman Choi urged employees, "Let us build a robust corporate structure that can withstand any crisis, based on humility toward the market and customers and thorough risk management capabilities."
