Gwangju City Secures 5.3 Billion Won in Special Adjustment Grants... Expansion of Living SOC and Safety Infrastructure

Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province announced on December 31 that it has secured 5.3 billion won in the second round of special adjustment grants from Gyeonggi Province for 2025.

The special adjustment grants secured this time will be allocated to a total of 16 projects aimed at improving citizen convenience and promoting balanced regional development.


Key projects include the construction of a new community center in Guiyeo 3-ri (700 million won), repaving of City Road No. 9 (Gobul-ro) (500 million won), repaving of Jung-ro No. 3-22 (around Taejeon Elementary School) (150 million won), repaving and sidewalk installation in Maesan 2-tong (around Hyundai I-Ville) (300 million won), and replacement of elevators in old pedestrian overpasses (300 million won).


Additionally, the grants will fund the maintenance of the Osancheon riverside trail (300 million won), reinforcement work on the steep Nungpyeong 2 District (400 million won), maintenance of the Mugapsan hiking trail (70 million won), improvement of the substructure of the Chowael Sports Town soccer field (450 million won), and reinforcement work on the Gonjiam Bridge (City Road No. 23) (500 million won). Other projects include the installation of a membrane structure at the foot volleyball court of Gonjiam National Defense Sports Town (450 million won), improvement of the management office (40 million won), landscape improvement of the Yujeong Lake trail (150 million won), improvement of the bus stop facilities (300 million won), maintenance of road safety facilities (500 million won), and replacement of illuminated road signboards (200 million won).


Furthermore, on December 22, Gwangju City was selected for the installation of solar power facilities at the Opo Public Sewage Treatment Plant as part of Gyeonggi Province's "Climate Safe Shade Project," securing an additional 1.4 billion won in special adjustment grants.


As a result, including the 5.3 billion won secured in the first round of Gyeonggi Province's special adjustment grants for 2025, Gwangju City has secured a total of 13.3 billion won in special adjustment grants for the year.


Mayor Bang Sehwan stated, "I would like to thank Provincial Assembly members Yoo Youngdoo, Lim Changhui, Oh Changjun, Yoo Hyungjin, Kim Sunyoung, and Lee Jahyung for their efforts in securing these special adjustment grants. As these funds are especially valuable in the current challenging economic climate, we will do our utmost to implement projects that enhance the safety and happiness of our citizens," adding, "We will continue to focus on securing budgets so that essential projects for our citizens can be carried out in a timely manner."
