Kim Hocheol and Park Sookeun Receive Appointment Certificates
Blue House: "Ceremony Brief and Without Unnecessary Formalities by President's Direction"
On December 31, President Lee Jaemyung presented appointment certificates to Kim Hocheol, Chairman of the Board of Audit and Inspection, and Park Sookeun, Chairman of the Central Labor Relations Commission, at the main reception hall of the Blue House.
Typically, appointment ceremonies held on the same day are conducted at the same time, but this time, they were held at different times. This was done to allow for a tea meeting between President Lee and the newly appointed officials after the ceremony. A Blue House official explained, "Today's appointment ceremony was conducted briefly and without unnecessary formalities at the direction of President Lee."
Previously, on December 30, the National Assembly held a plenary session and passed the motion to appoint Chairman Kim, with 212 votes in favor, 34 against, and 5 abstentions out of 251 members present. Chairman Kim's term begins on this day and will last for four years, with the possibility of one reappointment. Chairman Kim, a graduate of the 20th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute, has previously served as Chairman of the National Police Commission and as President of Lawyers for a Democratic Society.
Chairman Park, a lawyer from the 18th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute, previously served as Chairman of the Central Labor Relations Commission from November 2019 to November 2022 during the Moon Jae-in administration. This is his second appointment, and his term will last for three years.
