Authentic Pickup "MUSSO" to Launch in January Next Year
Competitive Pricing and Wide Range of Options
Diesel and Gasoline Engines Available
Selectable Suspension and Deck Length
KG Mobility has unveiled the actual vehicle of its new pickup model, the MUSSO, and announced its key specifications and pricing. The company aims to continue its brand image as a "prestigious pickup manufacturer" through this authentic pickup model. By offering a competitive price compared to similar vehicles in its class and providing a wide range of selectable options, KG Mobility is responding to diverse consumer demand.
On December 29 and 30, KGM held a media preview event for the new MUSSO at the KGM Experience Center in Ilsan, where the actual vehicle was showcased. During the event, KGM also revealed the approximate price range for the new MUSSO.
For the gasoline short deck model, the entry trim is expected to be priced in the 29 million won range, the mid trim in the 35 million won range, and the top trim in the 39 million won range. Compared to its main competitor, the Kia Tasman (which starts at 37.5 million won for the entry-level model), the MUSSO is up to 8 million won less expensive, highlighting its price competitiveness as a key strategy for market penetration.
The new MUSSO stands out by allowing customers to choose not only the front design and powertrain, but also the deck length and suspension type. This flexibility enables the vehicle to be tailored for various uses, such as leisure or business.
The powertrain lineup consists of both diesel and gasoline options. The 2.2-liter diesel engine delivers a maximum output of 202 horsepower and a peak torque of 45.0 kg·m, while the 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine provides a maximum output of 217 horsepower and a peak torque of 38.7 kg·m. KGM decided to offer a diesel version in response to the steady demand for diesel pickups in the market. The company anticipates a sales ratio of approximately 60% diesel to 40% gasoline.
The standard configuration features a 5-link suspension system to ensure stable driving performance and ride comfort, while the long deck model offers the option of a leaf suspension system with higher load-bearing capacity.
Additionally, to accommodate off-road driving conditions, the new MUSSO is equipped with a four-wheel drive (4WD) system, a locking differential, and a Clear Sight Ground View (CSV) feature, enabling stable performance even in adverse weather and challenging terrains.
The advanced driver assistance system, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, is integrated with the electronic parking brake to support continuous stopping and automatic restart functions. A smart speed warning system has also been added, which uses a camera to recognize speed limit signs on the road and notifies the driver of the detected speed limits.
KGM plans to expand the export share of the new MUSSO to about half of its total sales, with a particular focus on increasing overseas sales in Europe and Latin America. Lee Wonik, Head of Product Strategy at KGM, stated, "We expect the new MUSSO to achieve an almost equal ratio of domestic and export sales. Although KGM has traditionally had a high proportion of domestic sales, recent strong export performance is gradually increasing our overseas sales volume."
