SDT to Supply Commercial Quantum-Classical Hybrid System to QAI

Quantum Computing Moves Beyond the Lab and Into Industry

SDT, a company specializing in quantum standard technology, announced on the 30th that it has signed a contract with QAI to build a hybrid quantum computing system and will supply a commercial quantum-classical hybrid system.

SDT explained that this contract marks the first case in Korea where quantum computing technology is being actively introduced to industrial sites beyond national research institutes. QAI is a quantum AI specialist company that integrates quantum computing and NVIDIA DGX-based high-performance GPU infrastructure at the data center level. Starting from the first quarter of next year, it plans to launch commercial quantum-classical hybrid computing services based at its Gangnam data center in Seoul.

SDT to Supply Commercial Quantum-Classical Hybrid System to QAI SDT Hybrid Quantum Computing System

The system SDT is building for QAI is designed to overcome the 'computational complexity' limits of conventional computing. Quantum-classical hybrid computing is a technology that integrates quantum processing units (QPUs) and classical computing resources (CPUs and GPUs) into a single workflow, enabling them to be used complementarily. By combining the computational power of quantum computers with the stability of existing supercomputers, this approach is drawing attention as a practical solution to current technological challenges in fields such as chemistry, AI, and optimization.

Under the contract with QAI, SDT will provide an integrated solution encompassing everything from hardware to the operating environment. To ensure the stability and eco-friendliness of the high-density computing environment, SDT will also supply its self-developed immersion cooling system, 'AquaRack.' This not only provides a stable operating environment but also contributes to improved power efficiency.

The quantum-classical hybrid system to be built at QAI's data center in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, Seoul, is expected to serve as a pilot model for the broader adoption and ecosystem expansion of quantum computers in the future.

Yoon Ji-won, CEO of SDT, stated, "Through this contract to supply a commercial quantum-classical hybrid system to QAI, we have established a critical milestone for quantum computing in Korea to take its first step from the research stage into industrial applications. SDT will provide the optimal solution to overcome the limitations of classical computing and will do its utmost to ensure that the nation's first commercial hybrid system, established in the heart of Seoul, becomes a key hub accelerating the industrial use of quantum technology."
