Gochang County in North Jeolla Province achieved a high ranking of Grade 2 in the overall integrity assessment of public institutions for 2025, organized by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission.
According to the county on December 30, this year’s assessment showed that Gochang County received a higher score than the national average for county-level local governments in overall integrity. The county also received higher scores than other county-level local governments in both perceived integrity and effort.
The county fostered an atmosphere of integrity improvement led by senior officials, holding meetings between the county governor and management-level public officials, as well as strategic meetings to improve organizational culture.
Additionally, Gochang County made various efforts to become a trusted and exemplary institution in integrity by implementing measures such as a pre-diagnosis system for corruption risks in major policies, conducting internal integrity surveys, and providing customized integrity training in the permit sector to address vulnerable areas.
In particular, the county governor demonstrated a strong commitment to integrity, securing momentum for promoting integrity initiatives. After establishing systematic anti-corruption and integrity policies and faithfully implementing them, the county once again achieved a high ranking this year, following last year’s results.
Shim Deokseop, Governor of Gochang County, stated, "All public officials will set an example to create an upright public service culture, and Gochang County will continue to provide trustworthy and transparent administration for its residents."
