On the 29th, Chuncheon Mayor Yook Donghan hosted a discussion with Provincial Assemblyman Park Kiyoung, City Councilor Kim Bogeon, and the Joint Countermeasure Committee to resolve the underground transmission line issue in Hupyeong-dong. The city aims to take on the role of mediator by engaging in sufficient communication and consultation with relevant agencies to lead the resolution of the problem.
This meeting was organized to share the progress of the underground transmission line project and to discuss practical alternatives to alleviate residents' inconveniences. In particular, the city clarified its intention to play an active mediating role regarding the complaints about temporary transmission towers and the issue of undergrounding high-voltage transmission lines, which it has been seeking solutions for since May.
At the meeting, a city official stated, "Since this is a matter involving various stakeholders, the city will actively coordinate the process," adding, "We will develop step-by-step solutions that address both the complaints about temporary transmission towers and the undergrounding of high-voltage transmission lines."
In this regard, the city recently discussed adjusting part of the underground transmission line route in the Hupyeong-dong area, in connection with the Namchuncheon SS to Chuncheon SS section of the power supply facility cable tunnel construction planned by Korea Electric Power Corporation, to resolve local complaints. The city received a positive response from Korea Electric Power Corporation, indicating that the proposal would be reviewed favorably.
A city official said, "We will continue to communicate closely with Korea Electric Power Corporation, apartment project developers, and other relevant organizations to address local issues," adding, "We will create tangible results that residents can feel, thereby establishing a better living environment."
