Buan County in North Jeolla Province was selected as an outstanding institution after achieving first place overall among counties in the 2025 Joint Evaluation of Local Governments (based on 2024 performance).
According to the county on December 29, this evaluation, organized by North Jeolla Province Special Self-Governing Province, comprehensively assessed delegated national administrative tasks, projects subsidized by the national treasury, and the implementation results of major national policy tasks.
In this evaluation, the county achieved 62 out of 68 quantitative assessment indicators and, including scores for qualitative evaluation and effort, recorded a total score of 98.9 points, earning the top spot among counties.
Notably, the county was selected as an outstanding city or county in the qualitative evaluation for both the first and second halves of the year, and ranked first among counties in the first half, receiving high marks for the creativity and effectiveness of its initiatives.
To achieve these results, the county closely monitored progress through ad hoc performance review meetings chaired by the deputy governor and enhanced its evaluation response capabilities by establishing an organic communication and collaboration system among departments.
As a result, the county received a commendation as an outstanding institution from North Jeolla Province and secured financial incentives in recognition of its administrative achievements.
A county official stated, "Achieving first place among counties and being selected as an outstanding institution is the result of strategic responses to strengthen administrative capabilities and the active participation of all staff. We will continue to lead regional development through effective administration and responsible county governance that residents can truly feel."
