With this agreement, the Together Music Copyright Association will join as the 16th participating institution in the ISNI-KOREA consortium. Along with the Korea Music Copyright Association and the Korea Music Performers’ Association, it will link music copyright information to the International Standard Name Identifier (ISNI) data in the music sector.

ISNI is a 16-digit international standard identifier assigned to the public identity of creators, such as researchers, writers, and performers, whether individuals or organizations. It is a system that resolves issues of identical names and enables the integrated international management of creator information. It is utilized across major libraries and the publishing and music industries worldwide.

The National Library of Korea expects that, through this agreement, it will expand the linkage of ISNI with various identification systems such as ISRC and UCI, thereby enhancing the reliability of music copyright information and contributing to copyright management and the protection of creators’ rights and interests.

Ryu Eunyoung, Director of the National Bibliography Division, stated, “By having major organizations in the music sector collaborate within the ISNI system, the national foundation for creator identification has been further strengthened,” adding, “We will continue to pursue cooperation with various sectors in the future.”

Since 2016, the National Library of Korea has operated the ISNI-KOREA consortium as the Korean ISNI registration agency, providing ISNI issuance and related services through its website.
