Yangsan Youth Street Shines Bright, Closing Out the Year with a Festival of Lights

Yangsan Youth Street in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang Province, is closing out the year in style, adorned with dazzling lights.

On December 23, the Yangsan city government announced the completion of the landscape lighting project for Yangsan Youth Street, which is recognized as Gyeongnam Province's first specialized street for small business owners.

This lighting installation was carried out to enhance the nighttime scenery of Yangsan Youth Street and to provide citizens with a variety of attractions and moving experiences during the year-end and New Year season.

The addition of gentle lighting throughout the street has created a safe and vibrant atmosphere even at night, attracting both citizens and visitors.

In particular, on Christmas Day, December 25, dance and busking performances were held against the backdrop of the newly decorated illuminated street, receiving an enthusiastic response from the public. This event was organized to continue the warm festive spirit of the recently concluded “ON-golmok ON-gi Festival,” which celebrated genuine happiness through sharing and local consumption, and served as a platform for public-private cooperation to revitalize the local commercial district.

Yangsan Youth Street has already drawn attention as a hub for revitalizing the local economy, having successfully hosted the “Gyeongnam Small Business Owners’ Day Commemoration and Harmony Festival” in November. The installation of landscape lighting and the Christmas busking performances have added to this momentum, offering special memories for citizens and conveying a message of hope to local merchants.

A representative of the Yangsan Youth Street Management Committee said, “The installation of the landscape lighting has truly revitalized the street. We prepared the busking performances in line with this, hoping that Yangsan Youth Street will become even more vibrant.”

A city official stated, “The excitement of the ON-golmok ON-gi Festival has naturally continued through the installation of the landscape lighting and the busking performances on Yangsan Youth Street, making it even more meaningful. We will continue to pay close attention and provide support so that Youth Street can serve as a model for revitalizing the local commercial district.”
