Online Donation Program Engages Company Employees
New Social Contribution Initiative 'I Dream Up' Gains Momentum
Ophthalmic Examinations and Treatment Costs Covered for 400 Children
LG Innotek announced on December 29 that the cumulative number of participants in its online donation program, 'InnoDream Funding,' which involves employees, has surpassed 26,000.
'InnoDream Funding' is a social contribution initiative in which employees voluntarily donate to help children from vulnerable groups in the local community. When a child in need is selected from the area where a business site is located, their story is posted on the company's internal social contribution portal. Employees then donate funds, and the collected donations are delivered to the beneficiary families. Now in its fourth year, the program saw annual participation exceed 10,000 this year, and the total annual donations increased by approximately 30% compared to the previous year.
This year, LG Innotek further strengthened its support for future generations by launching a new social contribution program, 'I Dream Up,' which reflects the characteristics of its business. The program name combines the meanings of 'Eye' and 'Kids,' signifying its purpose to support healthy growth for children and a brighter future. The main activity of 'I Dream Up,' the 'Child and Youth Blindness Prevention Project,' provided full coverage for ophthalmic examination costs, as well as surgery and treatment expenses for eye diseases such as strabismus and entropion, to 400 children and adolescents who were unable to access medical care due to financial constraints.
In addition, LG Innotek operates the 'Junior Pine Tree Classroom.' This initiative offers elementary school students hands-on education on topics related to materials and components, such as semiconductors and autonomous driving, and supports the renovation of outdated classrooms in care facilities as well as the provision of educational equipment like electronic whiteboards and beam projectors. By this year, a cumulative total of 16,000 children have participated in the materials and components science classroom, and the learning environment for 1,900 children and adolescents at 53 care institutions has been significantly improved.
Meanwhile, LG Innotek has been recognized for its contributions to social responsibility, being selected as a designated company for the 'Community Contribution Recognition Program' hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and others for six consecutive years. Last year, the company also received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare at the 13th Korea Sharing National Awards.
