Korea Exchange to Exclude Top 100 Large-Cap Stocks from Investment Warning Designation

The top 100 stocks by market capitalization will no longer be subject to designation as investment warning stocks. As a result, SK Hynix will be removed from the investment warning list on the 29th.

On December 26, the Market Surveillance Committee of the Korea Exchange announced that it had revised the detailed enforcement rules for market surveillance regulations related to the designation of investment warning stocks, including these changes, and that the new rules will take effect from the 29th.

In this revision, the Korea Exchange changed the criteria for stock price requirements under the "ultra-long-term rise and unhealthy conditions" category from "stocks with a price increase of 200% or more over the past year" to "individual stocks whose price increase exceeds the relevant market index by 200% or more over the past year."

Additionally, large-cap stocks ranked in the top 100 by combined market capitalization of the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets will be excluded from designation as investment warning stocks. If a stock that has already been designated falls within the top 100 by market capitalization as of the effective date, the designation will be lifted, and for SK Hynix, this means removal from the investment warning list on the 29th.

For stocks designated and then removed from the investment warning list under the "ultra-long-term rise and unhealthy conditions" category, re-designation will not be allowed within 60 trading days after removal. Previously, the restriction period was 30 trading days.

The Market Surveillance Committee stated, "We will continue our efforts to maintain the soundness of the capital market through thorough market surveillance, not only for stocks exempted from the investment warning designation under the ultra-long-term rise and unhealthy conditions category, but also for all stocks to prevent unfair trading."
