Busan Urban Corporation to Strengthen Responsible Legal Affairs and Compliance Management

Responding to Increased Litigation and Legal Consultations
Introducing Advance Notice System and Expanding Communication with Citizens

Busan Urban Corporation (BMC, President Shin Changho) is undertaking a comprehensive overhaul of its legal work system with the aim of strengthening responsible legal affairs in partnership with the local community and reinforcing compliance management.

Busan Urban Corporation announced that, following the conclusion of major lawsuits on December 24, it plans to implement institutional improvements to enhance its legal functions.

Going forward, BMC will sequentially pursue measures such as supplementing and strengthening litigation procedures, enhancing the expertise of its legal personnel, establishing preemptive risk management strategies, and introducing systems for legal monitoring and analysis. Through these efforts, the corporation aims to improve its capacity to prevent and respond to legal disputes.

To strengthen communication with citizens during the process of revising internal regulations, a new "advance notice system" will be established. This system moves beyond simply notifying the public of regulatory changes, instead explaining the purpose and background of revisions in a way that is accessible to citizens, with the goal of preventing misunderstandings between the corporation and the public. Regulations related to civil complaint handling and leasing are expected to be included in the advance notice system.

Busan Urban Corporation has seen a steady increase in demand for legal work in line with the recent expansion of urban development projects. According to the corporation, the average annual number of lawsuits is around 60, and legal consultations exceed 100 cases per year, underscoring the growing importance of litigation work each year.

Shin Changho, President of Busan Urban Corporation, stated, "Legal stability is at the core of public trust during urban development processes," adding, "We will practice responsible legal affairs in cooperation with the local community to further strengthen the legal safeguards for next year's urban development projects. Based on compliance management, we will establish ourselves as a trusted public institution for citizens."
